People have their panties in a bunch over it! Women on Submarines

I would love to hear why people are still talking about this and against it. If you are upset by this, I’d love for you to leave a comment and tell me why.

The Navy’s first female submariners have reached their first training milestone — completing nuclear power school — and are on track to arrive at four ballistic- and guided-missile subs as soon as this fall, the Navy announced Monday in a press release.

Having finished nuclear power school, eight women were to report Monday to the Submarine Officer Basic Course in Groton, Conn., joining a class of 74 men; it is the first co-ed class in SOBC history. Following the 10-week course, they will enter the next phase of their training, Naval Nuclear Prototype Training. They are expected to arrive at their subs in February 2012, according to Lt. ME vs THE JIGGLE – DAY 1

Good Morning Washington!

I really don’t know how many times I have started working out only to make up some fabulous excuses (If I do say so myself) to quit.  Well, maybe not quit…just not continue for a bit.  Normally every deployment meant a new workout commitment.  The Husband would deploy and I was on it!  Then month two or three came around and the lack of sleep, overwhelming schedule, and emotional eating (<—see, I told you there were fabulous excuses! ) made working out just another thing I *should* be doing, but could easily live without it.

Now that the Husband is on Shore Duty, I’m finding it really hard to come up with excuses.  So, today is DAY 1. I went for a walk/run down to the beach and back. Going down to the beach is fun because it is all down hill.  I ran the entire thing. Coming back up was another story.  I came to the conclusion that I don’t like hills.  The only way I can see ever having a positive relationship with them is if they turn my butt from a jiggling mess into sculpted hotness. A Downfall to Military Life

Normally I try to look at the good things.  But, sometimes there are things you just can’t put into a positive perspective.  I haven’t written in a few days because I went home to St. Louis to spend some time with my parents, mainly my Father.

My Dad, who is 72 is a proud man.  He spent four years in the Navy back in the late 50′s. He went on to be a Detective in St. Louis for 21 years.  After that he has done many security and management jobs.  He is a hard man to get close to since he rarely talks about feelings, if ever.  He’d rather be tinkering in the garage than sitting around the table with us chatting.

A lot of people would criticize his parenting.  As a father of four, he was rarely around. He couldn’t tell you whose blanket belonged to who and what our favorite toy, color, or food was.  He always changed the channel to his show when he sat down in the evening without a thought to the kids program we were in the middle of.  He is from a generation where a man was better just because he was a man and he did as he pleased.  Continue reading
